Josef M. Arentz was born in Germany in 1903, and died in 1969 at his home Kennebunkport, ME.  His home on 30 Summer Street, Arentz spent 400 hours painting the walls of his dining room with tropical birds, plants, and flowers.  He was best known for his maritime scenes.   He was quoted as saying, “I would rather be a good painter than a famous one.”
