. Henry Ives Cobb, Jr. was born in 1883 in Illinois. He was an architect and worked in New York City with his father. He mainly painted scenes around the Manhattan and Central Park area but always called himself an artist. Cobb was a member of the Art Students League of New York and the Society of Independent Arts. He closed his father’s architectural firm to “pursue the elusive muse of painting.” Henry Ives Cobb, Jr.'s painting is of a New York flower vendor. The image is a mixed media measuring 13 x 18
Henry Ives Cobb started painting in 1931. He was a political cartoonist as well as painting in oil and gouache. He primarily painted scenes of Central Park and around Manhattan. Though Henry Ives Cobb was an architect by trade, he always said he was an artist first. He died in 1974.
