Childe Hassam – Childe Hassam was born in Dorchester, Massachusetts in 1859, died in 1935 in East Hampton, New York   Mr. Hassam was most noted for his impressionist paintings.  He quit high school to become a wood engraver and an illustrator in 1870.  In 1883 he traveled to Europe to study at Academie Julian to finish his education in Europe.  He had already studied art at the Lowell Institute and the Boston Art Club and was elected to the National Academy.  In 1890, Mr. Hassam became active in New York exhibiting at the Players Club and the Society of American Artists.  He was the founder of Ten American Painters which he defected from the National Academy of Design and a member of the Old Lyme School in Connecticut.  The painting is a watercolor of a landscape possibly somewhere in Connecticut by the great impressionist Childe Hassam.

The Childe Hassam painting is a Connecticut landscape, monogramed in a circle towards the lower center.   The painting is a watercolor laid down on artist board.  There is a newspaper article taped to the back of the painting with the scene that Hassam painted.  The painting measures without the frame 12 x 17 a with the frame 20 x 24 under glass.  The price on this painting is $25,000 or best offer.
