Robert Eric Moore was born in Maine in 1927, he died in Newburyport, Mass. in 2006. He was elected to the National Academy in New York. This painting is a watercolor signed lower right by Robert Eric Moore and dated '64. He exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the Museum of Art in Maine and at the Boston Museum of Fine Art. He was known for his abstract ocean scapes.
