Nell Choate Jones was born in Hawkinsville, GA in 1879. She started painting in 1919 and had her first exhibition in 1927. She attended the Adelphi Academy in Brooklyn, NY. She took private lessons in England and France. She returned to 1936 to Georgia and painted expressionist/modern paintings.
