Born in Paris, France in 1881. Gleizes worked with his father in a large industrial design shop that designed fabric. He served in the army from 1902 to 1905 and he started painting seriously. At this time in his painting career, he was influenced by the impressionists and exhibited at the National des Beaux-Arts in 1902. Gleizes came under the influence of Fernand Leger, Robert Delaney and lastly Henri Faucconnier who led him to his cubist style. Gleizes is known for his abstract work and cubist style.
